Dionasu
Introduction
All of the residents of Dionasu are those of the kitsune race. The officials of Dionasu don't often attend international meetings, only doing so when it's absolutely necessary, but they never allow foreign bodies, nor anyone onto their lands, of which they are fiercely loyal of. If someone were to tread onto Dion soil, they would often be attacked, but no one has ever heard of a murder taking place after this, but that could also be due to the fact that no foreign body has came out of Dionasu. Because of their elusive nature, we don't know much about their subspecies and niche communities, but we know a lot about their culture, in order to not anger them, because of how honour driven they can be.
Clothing
The general people of Dionasu tend to stick to pure whites and golds, though love wearing the boldest colours possible at weddings. With raised, wooden shoes, and small amounts of padding for those shoes, the people of Dionasu tend to have no issues walking on rough terrain for prolonged periods, since most are used to harsh and muddy agricultural land without much shelter from the elements.
History
With a long history in agriculture and close quarters combat, it's no wonder that the average Dion is great at navigation, enduring long distance travel and at least knows the basics of some form of martial art. The country used to be at war with Dolis, in an attempt to exterminate aura users from the lands in a 'fate-driven' quest. On this day, many species went extinct, though mainly smaller dragon populations closest to the North and North East, as well as many that trekked the country from the South. Not just soldiers were killed, villages were raided and cities were pillaged, all in the name of Pomtriza.
Ethics
While the Dion aren't particularly violent, they would do anything to protect their lands. Because of the tight-knit community, wandering outside of the village, or land, in Dionasu is not taken lightly, with the strictest of villages kicking out kids for wandering too far, most villages only disowning, or kicking out the adults, and just urging the children to stay inside of their homeland. Leaving the country usually results in no one coming to get you, since they have a strong 'survival of the fittest' ethic, and they see it as betray to your family, home, or even the country if you leave. Many people who return to the country after leaving, or simply move to a different area, tend to face discrimination there - this may include; physical tests of strength, where if they beat their opponent than they're recognised as a Dion again to the rest of the people; shunning, where people actively call the returned names in passing, or even specific slurs, which often are only for those returning and may vary village from village, as well as exclusion from specific establishments, villages, walkways and land.
Terrian
The land of Dionasu consists of a variety of landmarks, with many of their most towering mountains lining the north and the west of the country. Most notably, the Auzuketl Mountain range, home to some of the largest mountains on Reina, which sits along the North of the country. However, towards the South of the country, they contain marshlands and wetlands, where they grow a variety of food on their lands. Infact, 90% of their lands consists of farmland, which has allowed them to prosper and not worry in terms of food. They also have rich mines in the smaller mountains, many which the Dion have chosen to live in, these mountains are nicknamed Estroku mountains, but still keep their original names, usually structed as [name]-estroku mountain.
Culture
The culture of the Dion kitsune are rich and vast, often varying from village to village, but there has been widespread use of these specific rules and standards, which are still used today, listed below.
Appearances
Despite their diverse shapeshifting affinity and abilities, you'll often see kitsune with strict dress codes and appearances. If one were to not heed such a rule, they may not be thrown out unless it is a highly, highly traditional household, whom you'll often find closest to the location of the Reshka Silent Castle, where their imperial family presides.
Female Appearance
You'll see many female kitsune with long, white hair, making sure to keep it as long and as smooth as possible, however it must never go past the knee, preferably past the waist to keep it safe. During formal events and settings it’s customary to keep it up in a braid, ponytail, ect. but, keeping it down may be seen as a sign of disrespect. With many of these woman, you'll find them with bright red eyes, which may vary in shade depending on many factors such as their job and rank, but each eye colour has a different meaning in Dionasu, they take their symbolism incredibly seriously because of their ability to shapeshift into what they’d like, whenever they’d like. Though, many of the higher class Dion woman may wear things to cover their eyes, allowing only those closest to them to see them. For example, the first time a Dion woman may get married to another kitsune, she may take her blindfold off infront of the other high class member at the ceremony right before exchanging their vows.
Male Appearance
You'll see many male kitsune with contrasting short, black hair, making sure to keep it as silky and smooth as the rest of the population, however their definition of 'short' seems to mean it must never go past the shoulder, preferably stopping at the middle of the neck to play it safe. During formal events and settings it's customary to keep it up in a slick-backed, or stylised in some way for the occasion. But, not styling it completely will definitely be seen as a sign of disrespect. With many of these men, you’ll find them with many shades of blue eyes, which may vary in shade depending on many factors such as their job and rank, just like their female counterparts. But, their eyes were to always stay open in order to remain vigilance unless when asleep, or unconscious, the complete opposite to the women.
Death Ceremonies
In many cases with eyes, both genders' eyes were pried open after death if they were not already open, in order to allow them sight during their transition to wherever the village believed they went, or whichever deity they were to speak with, unless their deity didn’t like being directly looked at, in which case blindfolds were the regular occurrence across villages with these very customs.
During the ceremonies, the deceased will usually be placed within the local shrine, and prayed for. After two days, and the transition of the soul to the afterlife has been completed according to the folklore, they're usually taken to either be buried, to allow their body to return back to the earth, or cremated, in order to ease the deceased out of their rotting current body and allowed to move on, these ashes may be sprinkled along a sacred, personal item, such as the deceased’s sword, home, or in a place they frequently visited, such as the local river, or near a café; to be given the ashes of a deceased from a relative of the deceased is seen as an honour to be praised for, as it is seen as giving the deceased to the recipient, allowing them a piece of the deceased. An urn may be used, though isn't as common as sprinkling the ashes. Some of the most popular places to be buried, or ashes to be spread, is the local shrine, or mountain, because of the cultural and religious significance that is almost identical across the entirety of Dionasu.
Wedding Ceremonies
Dion Pride
Kitsune are very prideful creatures, and take much care in their appearances, following a strict code seen previously the 'culture' section. However, this is diffrent from their ears and tails, which tell a diffrent story.
